A casino sign up bonus is a reward for opening an account, usually extra bonus funds when you make your first deposit. Some are advertised as “free”, but almost all come with conditions that decide how much, if anything, you can withdraw. This guide explains the main types of sign up and welcome bonuses, shows what the terms cost in pesos, and lists the checks to make before you opt in.

  • Most sign up bonuses are deposit matches: deposit ₱1,000 and get, for example, ₱1,000 in bonus funds.
  • The wagering requirement, and whether it applies to the bonus only or to bonus plus deposit, decides most of the value.
  • Live and table games often count for less toward wagering, or not at all.
  • Opting out is a valid choice. A bonus you cannot realistically clear is not worth taking.

How a first deposit bonus works

  1. You register, verify your account and opt in to the bonus (some sites add it automatically; others need a code or a tick box).
  2. You deposit at least the qualifying minimum.
  3. The casino adds bonus funds, for example 100% of your deposit up to a maximum.
  4. You play eligible games until you meet the wagering requirement.
  5. The remaining balance becomes withdrawable, subject to any cap.

Read the terms on the operator’s own site before you deposit; you usually cannot add the bonus afterwards, and some sites will not let you remove it once it is active.

What a welcome bonus is worth in pesos

Simplified example using average results only. Real sessions vary a lot.

Offer: 100% match up to ₱1,000. You deposit ₱1,000 and get ₱1,000 bonus. You play a slot with 96% RTP.

Wagering termsBets neededExpected cost of wagering (4%)Rough value of the ₱1,000 bonus
20x bonus only₱20,000₱800About ₱200
30x bonus only₱30,000₱1,200Below zero
20x bonus + deposit₱40,000₱1,600Below zero

The difference between “bonus only” and “bonus plus deposit” doubles the betting needed. And if the games you prefer count for less, the amount grows again: at a 10% contribution rate for live baccarat, each ₱100 bet counts as ₱10 toward wagering, so ₱20,000 of wagering would need ₱200,000 of baccarat bets.

The terms that matter most

  • Wagering requirement: how many times, and on what (bonus only, or bonus plus deposit).
  • Game contribution: slots often count 100%; table and live games may count less or be excluded.
  • Maximum bet: the largest bet allowed while the bonus is active. Breaking it can void winnings.
  • Expiry: how long you have to complete the wagering.
  • Maximum cashout: some sign up bonuses cap what you can withdraw.
  • Withdrawal before wagering: many sites cancel the bonus, and sometimes the winnings from it, if you withdraw early.
  • Eligibility: one bonus per person, household or payment account; KYC required.

PAGCOR rules on rebates and cashback

In May 2026 PAGCOR capped cash rebates for electronic games at 1.5% of turnover or deposits (for slots, e-bingo, numeric games and sports betting) and cashback at 15% of net losses. Operators must get these programs approved first, and they may not be combined with other promotional cash incentives in a way that exceeds the caps. A rebate or cashback offer far above these levels is a warning sign that the site may not be licensed.

Red flags in sign up offers

  • The offer is only explained in a social media post or chat message, not on the operator’s site.
  • You are asked to pay a personal e-wallet number or QR code to receive the bonus.
  • You are asked for a “processing” or “release” fee before withdrawing.
  • The terms are missing, vague, or change after you deposit.
  • The site does not appear on PAGCOR’s list of registered domains. Check with our guide on how to tell if an online casino is legit, and see online casino scams.

Our take

In our view, a sign up bonus is worth taking only when three things line up: low wagering on the bonus only, your preferred games count fully, and the maximum bet suits how you play. If you mostly play live baccarat or other table games, skipping the bonus is often the better deal, because you can withdraw your deposit and any winnings without conditions. Choose the casino first on safety and payouts, using our best online casinos rankings and rating methodology, then decide whether its bonus suits you.

FAQ

Is a free sign up bonus really free?

The bonus funds cost you nothing to receive, but you cannot withdraw them, or winnings from them, until you meet the terms. Treat them as extra play, not money.

What is a good wagering requirement?

Lower is better. As a rule of thumb, the lower the multiple and the more games that count fully, the more of the bonus you are likely to keep.

Can I use a sign up bonus on live baccarat?

Sometimes, but live and table games often count for only a small share of each bet toward wagering, or are excluded. Check the game contribution table.

Can I decline a welcome bonus?

Usually yes. Many sites let you opt out at deposit or ask support to remove it before you play. Without a bonus, your deposit and winnings are not tied to wagering.

Why was my bonus winnings removed?

Common reasons are breaking the maximum bet, playing excluded games, withdrawing before wagering was complete, or holding more than one account. The operator’s terms will state which rule applied.
