How live casino works
Live casino games are played at a real table with a real dealer, usually in a professional studio. Cameras stream the table to your phone or computer in real time, so you see the cards dealt, the wheel spun or the dice shaken as it happens. The most popular live dealer games in the Philippines include live baccarat, roulette, blackjack and Sic Bo, alongside game-show style titles.
Instead of handing over physical chips, you tap on-screen chips to place your bets. Each round opens with a short betting window, shown as a countdown timer. When the timer runs out, betting closes and the dealer plays the round.
Results come from real cards, wheels and dice, not a random number generator. A card- and number-recognition system reads each result and settles bets automatically, so wins are paid seconds after the round ends. The house edge works exactly as it does at a physical table. For example, a single-zero roulette wheel carries a 2.7% house edge on every bet, whether you play live or in person.
Table limits explained
Every live table has a minimum bet and a maximum bet per round. The minimum is the smallest stake the table accepts, and the maximum caps how much you can place on one position or one round. Side bets often have their own limits. In live baccarat, for example, Player Pair, Banker Pair and Tie bets usually have lower maximums than the main Player and Banker bets. The casino and the game provider set the table limits together. You’ll find them in the lobby, on each table’s tile, before you sit down, so check them before you join rather than after your first bet.
Limits vary because studios run different tables for different budgets. These typically include low-minimum tables for casual play, standard tables, and high-limit or VIP tables. Availability also shifts with the time of day. At peak hours, evenings and weekends in the Philippines, low-minimum tables tend to fill first, and blackjack seats can run out entirely. When that happens, you may only find higher-limit tables or a “Bet Behind” option, where you bet on a seated player’s hand without making any decisions yourself. A lower table limit doesn’t change the odds of the game. It only changes how much each round costs you.
In our tests: The lowest minimum bet is Php50 and typical maximum Php990,000 for live baccarat, roulette, blackjack and Sic Bo at each casino, the time of day checked, and whether low-minimum tables were full at peak hours.]
To confirm a casino is licensed before you deposit, check PAGCOR’s official list of licensed online gaming sites. To compare the studios behind the tables, see our game providers guide.
Live dealer games vs. regular casino games
Regular online casino games, often called RNG or digital games, use a certified random number generator instead of a dealer. Both types can be fair at a licensed casino, but they feel very different to play.
Pace. A live round takes longer, because of the betting window, the dealing and the result announcement. That means you play fewer rounds per hour than in a digital version, which you can play as fast as you tap. A slower pace isn’t automatically safer, though. Live sessions can run longer because there’s always another round starting.
Minimum bets. Digital table games usually accept smaller stakes than live tables, since there’s no studio or dealer to pay for. If you want to keep each bet small, digital versions generally offer more room.
Free play. Most digital games have a free demo mode, so you can learn the rules without spending money. Live tables don’t offer demos, because every round is dealt for real. Many lobbies do let you watch a table without betting, which is a good way to learn the flow of the game first.
The social side. Live tables have a chat window where you can talk to the dealer and other players, which makes them closer to a real casino floor. If you’d prefer a dealer who speaks Filipino, check whether the lobby lists native-language tables.
Data use on mobile. A live game streams continuous video, so it uses far more mobile data than a digital game. Play on Wi-Fi where you can, or lower the video quality in the game settings. Before you play, check the casino’s disconnection policy, which explains how bets you’ve already placed are settled if your stream drops mid-round.
What to check before you play
- The casino is on PAGCOR’s list of licensed sites.
- Table minimum fits your budget for the whole session.
- Your connection holds a stream at peak hours.
- You’ve set a deposit and session limit first.
Live casino games are entertainment, not a way to make money. Every game carries a house edge, and no betting pattern or strategy changes that. You must be 21 or older to play at PAGCOR-licensed casinos.
